Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is home to the majestic tiger, four-horned deer, barking, deer, sambar, spotted deer, leopards, sloth bears, langur, wild dogs, wild boar, jackal, and many nocturnal animals. One can see a plethora of reptiles and insects including butterflies. More than two hundred fifty species of birds including migrants can be seen at this nature preserve in India.
The park has an area of four hundred plus sq.km with a tourist zone of 125 sq.km. It is managed under the Project Tiger Program hence constitutes a tiger reserve in India.
The population of tigers in the wild is very high in the park and surroundings. Since the conservation measure initiated the wildlife thrives in the forests. Bandhavgarh in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh is situated in the Vindhyan Ranges. The topography is steep hillocks, grasslands in valleys, and numerous rivulets that constitute the lifeline of this fragile ecosystem. Park opens on 1st October and closes on 30th June.

Bandhavgarh is 170 km from Jabalpur connected with air service and by an overnight train with New Delhi and major cities. Overnight train from Delhi (Utkal Express) halts at Umaria which is 32 km from the park.
